Wrappin' It All Up

Okay, "Chord Magic" isn't really magic.  It's just a straightforward set of principles that you can use to play any chord in any key in any position.  And it does take some memorization and practice.  But, as any magician will tell you, even magic takes practice.  The benefit of this method is that, even though you need to do some studying, it's a lot less than the memorization and practice that it would take to learn all those chords the hard way (the way everyone else does).

To follow up on our earlier multiplication example, you've got six positions for each chord (if your ukulele has a long enough scale), you've got the twelve keys, and we've looked at eight different chord types.  So you've got 6 x 12 x 8 = 576 chord diagrams summarized on one page!  Maybe it is magic after all.

Have fun with this.  After all, that's why you're playing the uke – to have fun!  Incorporate some of the second-position and third-position chords into your playing.  It'll add a new dimension to the sound that you get from your instrument, it'll look way cool, it'll impress your friends, it'll bring attractive members of the opposite sex into your life, it'll cure acne and hair loss, it'll make you live longer.

Enjoy!
